Work was a terrible, torturous way to survive, but now comes the fun part, where I do jack-crap for the rest of my life.
Mostly I'll be tilted in my recliner napping or doing nothing, but to prevent atrophy of the limbs and calcification of the brain, I'll be DOING STUFF NOW AND THEN, and you're invited to do stuff with me.
Here's the complete list of everything I'm up to; you're invited to any and all of it. Or if you'd like a meal with Douggles, let's do breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
What's up for the next month or so is below, and there'll be updates every few weeks.
If any of it sounds like something you'd enjoy, or if you have a better idea, let me know, and we'll work out the details.
This is a zero-pressure invitation. I'd love to see you, but even alone I'll still have a blast.
THURSDAY, JULY 4 — NOON
Naturalization Ceremony, at Seattle Center
There's no better way to celebrate America than watching 400 new citizens take the oath.
SATURDAY, JULY 6 — 9:45 AM
Breakfast, at Little Pat's Place
13611 Ambaum Blvd SW, Burien
Our family breakfast at Little Pat's happens twice monthly. Remember, they don't take plastic.
THURSDAY, JULY 11 — 11AM
King Buffet (Chinese)
20 SW 7th Street, Renton
"I like Chinese," and it's all-you-can-eat.
SATURDAY, JULY 13 — 12-7PM
Polish Festival, at Seattle Center
There'll be polka and a parade, and maybe they'll be selling Polish hot dogs.
Please, no Polack jokes. Seriously.
SUNDAY, JULY 14 — 11AM
"Playtime" (1967), at Beacon Cinema
4405 Rainier Avenue South, Columbia City
I've never seen this movie, but I've seen the sequel and it was great. It's a French comedy, so there'll be subtitles. Tickets, $12.50.
TUESDAY, JULY 16 — 5-9PM
Open House Pinball, at NW Pinball Collective
1120 North 97th Street, Licton Springs
A few hours of free pinball? I'm there.
SATURDAY, JULY 20 — 9:45 AM
Breakfast, at Little Pat's Place
13611 Ambaum Blvd SW, Burien
Our family breakfast at Little Pat's happens twice monthly. Remember, they don't take plastic.
SATURDAY, JULY 20 — 12-4PM
Quiet Reading, at Folio
93 Pike St #307, Pike Place Market
I'll bring a book to read, and you should too, but mostly I want to scope out Folio. It's a private library and reading-&-thinking club, and I might join if it's not too snooty.
