Announcing, weekly walking days!

Trivia: What was the last band to perform at the Green Lake Aqua Theatre, before it was torn down in 1969? Answer below.

☼☼☼

It's December, time for my annual reminder that I'm not a Christmas guy. Please, no cards, no gifts, no parties, no caroling, etc, but I enthusiastically and sincerely wish you the best Christmas ever!

You are invited to play a game of chess. Click this link and our game will be underway.

I've posted chess invitations now and again in the past, and nobody's ever taken the challenge. What, are you chicken?

Trivi-answer:
The Grateful Dead.

Here what's happening over my next week or so. Anyone who knows me or wants to is invited to anything listed. Just let me know and away we'll go...

 • Please RSVP by the day before.
 • All events are 'Dutch treat'.
 • Please remember the basics of Doug

Tuesday 12/3 — Nice day for a walk

Soon as this page is posted, I'm headed downtown for a long walk to nowhere in particular, and back again.

Yes, there will be homeless folks. They're fun to talk with, they don't judge me, and I don't judge them. Panhandlers will receive cash and kindness up to my budgetary limits, because it's an outrage that anyone's without shelter in the richest country on Earth.

Wednesday 12/4 — Casablanca

Round up the usual suspects: Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henreid, and Claude Rains. It's only the best movie ever made, and it's playing at Central Cinema.

Thursday 12/5 — National Nordic Museum

I had to look up 'Nordic'. It means, "relating to northern Europe, especially Scandinavia."

Had to look up 'Scandinavia', too. It's the region where you'll find Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.

So this is a museum of Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish stuff. Maybe they'll have Swedish meatballs.

Admission is free on the first Thursday of every month, and guess what day we're going?

Friday 12/6 — Twice-monthly get-together

Breakfast is served, for anyone who wants to come. I recommend the chicken-fried steak.

Sunday 12/8 — Day of rest

With a seat cushion under me, it'll be a scenic round trip on Metro's #11 bus.

There'll be panoramic views of Lake Washington at Madison Park, Capitol Hill, and the loveliness of Pine Street as it crosses Interstate-5.

The bus passes within easy walking distance of Dick's, so I'll have two Deluxe, fries, and a strawberry shake, please.

Tuesday 12/10 — Nice day for a walk, again

I'm trying to take a substantial walk once weekly, rain or shine or snow. Come Tuesday, I'll be at Bradner Gardens Park, on Mount Baker.

The City Parks Dept promises that winding paths connect the seven ornamental theme gardens, 61 p-patch plots, the children's A-to-Z garden below the scarecrow, and a 33-foot-tall vintage windmill that circulates water between the ponds.

If you'd like late-breaking invitations when a random inspiration is added to my plans, just send a text or email.
