Polar plunge

— Tuesday, December 24, 2024 —

In a few weeks, some of the country's worst people will be in charge again, making cruelty and stupidity America's national policy.

If you don't want to hear me complain about it, let's hurry up and do lunch before Donald Trump takes office. Because after January 20, anyone who says anything positive or even neutral about Trump's policies or presidency will find me very, very annoying.

Here what I'm up to. Family, friends, acquaintances, and anyone who knows me or wants to is invited. Just let me know, and away we'll go.

If you're planning something or going somewhere, and you'd like to be accompanied by a fat man with flatulence, I'm that guy. All invitations will be cheerfully considered, possibly even accepted.

 • Please RSVP by the day before.
 • All events are 'Dutch treat'.
 • Please remember the basics of Doug

☼ Merry Christmas!
On Wednesday I'll be lunching at King Buffet, then singing Christmas carols with Helen, then hanging out at Casey & Mom's house. God bless us, every one.

☼ Art!
Most of the area's museums are free on the first Thursday of every month, so that's usually my one day of art monthly. Not sure which museum I'm headed to on January 2, except that it won't be the Museum of History & Industry, this month or any month.

☼ Bus!
There's no better way to see the city than out the window of a bus. Upcoming excursions will be to Capitol Hill, and to the northern parts of Seattle. Sometimes I hop off the bus and eat lunch, especially buses that go past a Dick's or Ivar's.

☼ Film!
The Wages of Fear
is a movie about people so desperate for work that they'll take a very dangerous job — driving trucks loaded with highly-explosive nitroglycerine. It's in French and black-and-white, and it's one of the greatest films ever made.
FLASH — I'm going to the 2PM show at the Beacon on Sunday, 12/29. YOU'RE INVITED.

☼ Food!
Upcoming eats will be at Burgermaster in the U-District, George's Polish Deli on Capitol Hill, and Ras Dashen Ethiopian in the Central District.
FLASH — I'm headed to Burgermaster for a late breakfast or early lunch on Saturday, 12/28. YOU'RE INVITED.

Polar plunge!
At noon on New Year's Day, let's have a refreshing dip into Puget Sound! The waters are cold, but our spirits will be warm.

☼ Walk!
I'm trying to take a substantial walk once weekly, rain or shine or snow. This week, it'll be at Pike Place Market.
