You'd better duck — 2025 is here!

 — December 31, 2024 —

— FLASH —
Definitely going to the Saturday 1/4 matinee at Grand Illusion (see 'Movies!', below), and stopping at George's Deli on Capitol Hill on the way. My movie ticket is pre-paid and waiting at will call, but admits only me. If you're coming, let me know and buy your ticket pronto before it's sold out!

— FLASH —
I'm doing the Wing Luke Museum on Thursday 1/2,
which includes the Bruce Lee exhibit at no extra charge.
You're invited — admission is $15 for seniors.

Here's my pre-diary — all the things I hope/plan to do over the next week or so. If you're family, friend, former friend, acquaintance, or simply Doug-curious, you're very much invited to join me!

And if you're planning something or going somewhere, and you'd like a fat man with flatulence to tag along, I'm that guy. All invitations will be cheerfully considered, possibly even accepted.

 • Please RSVP by the day before.
 • All events are 'Dutch treat'.
 • Please remember the basics of Doug

Happy New Year!

I rarely drink, never party, and only rarely stay up past 10PM, so I'm not big on New Year's celebrations. But fun things do happen on the holiday, like...

• Transit is free all day on 12/31, which includes the Water Taxi across Puget Sound (the usual cost is $6, I think). It's fun, with great views and no cars, and takes about 15 minutes. I'll be riding the Water Taxi to lunch at Ivar's on the waterfront.

• 'Secret Cinema' plays at the Beacon at 4:30 PM on New Year's Eve. There's no knowing what's showing until the movie starts, so you have to be open to anything, sorta like life itself.

• After that, I'll ride a free bus home, go beddy-bye with a diet 7-Up nightcap, and at noon the next morning (New Year's Day), let's have a refreshing dip into Puget Sound! The waters are cold, but our spirits will be warm.

Art!

Most of the area's museums are free on the first Thursday of every month, so that's my one day of art monthly. I always wear my very best t-shirt.

Not sure which museum I'm headed to on January 2, except that it won't be the Museum of History & Industry, this month or any month.

Breakfast!
Friday morning at Little Pat's in Burien. Try the chicken-fried steak.

Bus!

There's no better way to see the city than riding Metro Transit. Upcoming excursions will be to Capitol Hill, and to the northern parts of Seattle. One of these days, I'm headed to the east side, just to see if Bellevue's as boring as I remember...

Food!

A nice meal out is such a treat, ain't it? One day soon there'll be breakfast, lunch, or dinner at George's Polish Deli on Capitol Hill, and Ras Dashen Ethiopian in the Central District. And maybe at your house, if you feel like cooking.

Firepit social!

Weather permitting, there's a weekly firepit social at Pier 62. It's fun, and it's a possibility on any Sunday I've got nothing better to do.

Movies!

'Secret Saturday Matinees' run weekly in January, at the Grand Illusion. They're showing an episode of an old movie serial, followed by an unannounced old movie, every week. Sadly, the theater closes at the end of the month.

Music!

Ladies Musical Club: Schubert Piano Trio at the downtown library. Barber, Britten, and Schubert are on the playlist.

Students' Concert at UDub. It's free, in the lobby at North Allen Library Lobby. Last time I danced, and they scowled at me, so maybe I'll dance again.

Walk!

I'm trying to take a substantial walk once weekly, rain or shine or snow. My to-walk list includes Lake Union Park, Pike Place Market, and Seahurst Park.
