Breakfast at Nacho Mama’s
WEDNESDAY 1/15
Other than that, I
didn't do much last week. My tummy was still battling that kielbasa
sauerkraut cheddar & onion sandwich from The Deli That Shall Not Be
Named. That's why some of this week's plans are reruns from last week,
but I'm roaring to go now and you should come with me!
And if you're planning something or going somewhere, and you'd like a fat man with flatulence to tag along, I'm that guy. All invitations will be cheerfully considered, possibly even accepted.
• All events are 'Dutch treat'.
• Please remember the basics of Doug.
☼ Food!
Breakfast is this Friday! Usual time, usual place. I'll be ordering the usual, and enjoying everybody's company!
There's more to life than burgers and fries! In the next few days I'm having an Ethiopian lunch at Ras Dashen in the Central District, and a Native American breakfast at Nacho Mama’s Fry Bread Cafe in West Seattle.
After that, there's a long list of adventurous eating on my agenda, including my first taste of pho from Phở Thu Thủy in White Center, and an every-6-months-or-so pilgrimage to Seattle's finest greasy spoon, Beth's Cafe in Green Lake.
'Secret Saturday Matinees'
run weekly in January, at the Grand Illusion. Each Saturday, they show an
episode of an old movie serial, followed by an unannounced old movie,
every week. This week the hint is that the movie, serial, and shorts will all be westerns.
I recommend bringing a seat cushion, though. The theater and the seats are fifty years old...
☼ Music!
One day soon, I'm going to Georgetown Records in (you'll never guess) Georgetown, and the Fantagraphics Bookstore, which shares the same space.
☼ Politics!
US Senator Ron Wyden (D-Oregon) is one of about half a dozen members of Congress who routinely stands up for truth, justice, and the American way. He's speaking at Town Hall on Monday 1/20, in conversation with Washington Rep Liz Berry.
Tickets on a sliding scale, starting at ten bucks.
And while we're talking politics, what kind of morally-shortchanged leader uses a tragedy like the California fires to launch lies and insults?
☼ Theater!
Two plays now running intrigue me: Where Is Here? (ends Feb 2) at Seattle Public Theater, and Gold (ends Feb 8) at Annex Theater. Click the links to find out a little more.
Tickets are reasonably priced and/or on a sliding scale, because Douggles doesn't do $75 seats.
☼ Walking!
I'm
trying to take a substantial walk once weekly, rain or shine or snow. My upcoming to-walk list includes Pike Place Market and Seahurst Park, but not on the same day.
☼ Wandering!
It's a lot of fun seeing the city out the window of a bus, so I take a ride to anywhere and back at least once weekly. Upcoming excursions will be to the northern parts of Seattle, and one of these days, I'm headed to the east side, just to see if Bellevue's as boring as I remember...
