How can I say I'm from Seattle, when I'm 66 years old but have never been on Bill Speidel's Underground Tour? Well, that's going to change.
Artistically, Free First Thursdays means the museums are free, so I'll be at one of them on April 3.
For artsy fartsy words, these short stories sound like fun, and I've sometimes been known to not snicker at poetry.
Theatrically, I'm intrigued by three plays now playing: Blue to Blue, Cornelia's Visitors, and Squeeze. Each of them sounds interesting and adventurous, but mostly I'm interested because they're all cheap. I am never paying $60, $40, or even $20 to see a play.
As you may or may not know, I love movies, especially if they're out-of-the-ordinary. Coming soon, I might be seeing Carnival of Souls, The Room, Safety Not Guaranteed, Smooth Talk, and Sunset Boulevard, and I'll definitely be seeing The Encampments, Mon Oncle, My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done?, and Secret Mall Apartment.
Oysters are icky, but I loved Emmett Watson so I'll probably visit his Oyster Bar, and order fish'n'chips. Being a fat dude I love eating, and I'm planning to try Hudson, Q Bakery Sammiches, and Red Mill Burgers. And always I'm happy to return to old favorites like Cafe Selam, Countryside Cafe, Little Pat's Place, and Zain Restaurant and Bakery.
As spring emerges, there will need to be picnics in parks on a regular basis.
Again, I'd like to host a board game party — Scrabble, BananaGrams, whatever. It would be on a weekday, around lunchtime, in a private room at a sandwich-style restaurant (which, since I live in a boarding house, is the only way I can 'host' anything). Please note, it ain't happening unless at least a few people are interested, so let me know.
Being a patriot aghast at the dismantling of America, I'll continue going to protests when I have the energy, which seems to be once or twice weekly.
So that's what I'm up to. If you're family, friend, former friend, acquaintance, arch-enemy, or
simply
Doug-curious, you're invited to any of the above. Click the links for details, or drop me a note!
• All events are 'Dutch treat'.
• Please remember the basics of Doug.
And if you're planning something or going somewhere, and you'd like a fat man with
flatulence to tag along, I'm that guy. All invitations will be
cheerfully considered, possibly even accepted.
